The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to describe the longer term objectives and ambitions of CIGRE Study Committee B3. It is a necessary tool in evaluating the present situation and for planning and organisation of future activities including the build-up and conservation of competence. It also provides guidance for the assessment and development of working group and task force activities.
The Strategic Plan covers a ten-year period and is updated every second year to allow for its adaptation to new developments and trends. The plan is supplemented by an Action Plan which covers a three-year period and is updated annually.

The current SC B3 Strategic Plan (2005-2014)has been reviewed end of 2009 taking account of TC Strategic Plan.
